The Water Dog is a riverside taphouse and oyster bar located in Lynchburg, Virginia. Their selection includes 36 brews on draft and a menu featuring raw oysters, house-made fries, grilled cheese sandwiches, sharable apps and fresh baked cookies (we know your mouth is watering now!). Everything is made in-house with locally sourced ingredients. Their main focus is bringing people together to enjoy delicious food and beverages in an awesome riverside environment. The Water Dog features a 2,000 square foot beer garden, a splash park for the kids – and did we mention the amazing riverside view?
After many years in the banking industry, owner Dave Henderson spent some time thinking about the direction of his life. Inspired by the craft brew movement, he stepped away from corporate America and let his entrepreneurial spirit take over. Making this decision was not easy – this meant a big change for him and his family, including a physical move from the bustling city of Charlotte, NC to Dave’s hometown of Lynchburg, VA. This location ended up being the perfect spot for his start-up business; Lynchburg itself is an up-and-coming town that was missing a business of this nature in its market.
When the time came for Mr. Henderson to obtain financing for his start-up venture, he was referred to FNB by a friend.
