Located in Madison Heights, Virginia, Oak Hill Vet Care and Pet Resort is a full-service vet hospital that offers lodging, grooming, and daycare. Being able to provide all of these services under one roof was especially important to Dr. Shella Baker, the owner of Oak Hill Vet Care and Pet Resort. In the area, you can either find a vet or a boarding facility – not both. This facility allowed her to provide a one-stop shop for all of your pet's needs, and also provide ample outdoor space.
After graduating in 2005, Dr. Baker took a job at another veterinary practice in her area. Although, she always knew she wanted to eventually open her own practice. When that opportunity presented itself, she was elated to start the process of purchasing the building she would run her practice out of. The space she decided to purchase had the best of both worlds – a great indoor facility, and tons of space outdoors for the animals. After working with a few banks that were not a good fit for her, she was contacted by Dennis Wagner, one of our experienced SBA business development officers. Dennis was able to structure an SBA 7(a) loan to provide financing to purchase the real estate, but also provide capital to remodel the facility and purchase equipment.
