Robert Carter had worked for a large industrial gas manufacturing company for over 26 years where he gained experience in sales, product management, and business management. This experience also allowed him to work on large-scale deals both in the United States and abroad. Towards the end of his 26-year career, he had grown tired of long-distance plane travels and extended hotel stays. He decided to achieve his long-term goal of becoming a business owner.
When he began looking for opportunities, he knew he wanted to be in manufacturing and located in the southeast US. So, when the opportunity to acquire Brushy Creek Custom Doors presented itself, Robert went to look at the business within a week. The original owners spent 13 years growing the business and streamlining the manufacturing process. They had built a great team and culture and that was a significant contributor as Robert decided to move forward.
The seller’s Business Broker referred Robert to one of our experienced Business Development Officers, who had helped them with the original evaluations for selling and was very familiar with the business. After their initial discussion, Robert and our BDO they decided that an SBA 7(a) loan would work well due to the size of the business and the benefits FNB could provide.
Robert had this to say about his experience partnering with the FNB Small Business Finance team:
Partnering with FNB has been terrific! They are not only knowledgeable but did a great job guiding me through the process. I was hoping to hit a pretty tight deadline from our initial conversation to close, and my BDO helped me identify areas we could work ahead to ensure the process went as smoothly as possible. Through each step, he knew what was needed to get it done. Throughout my experience, I have worked on large transactions and I was surprised at how well this went. That was largely due to how well my BDO and the team at FNB Small Business Finance managed the process. I was very impressed and would recommend FNB to anyone looking to acquire a business. A compelling loan package and an incredibly professional team – that makes all the difference as a business owner!
It was a pleasure partnering with Robert on this SBA 7(a) loan. We look forward to seeing his success moving forward!
