Badger Box Mobile Storage is a locally and independently owned business based out of Wilmington, North Carolina. They currently provide mobile storage solutions within an hour radius around Wilmington, but are working towards adding a second location in Fayetteville. Their current operation provides residential and commercial storage solutions for moves, renovations, and other on-site storage needs. They pride themselves on being a business that offers solution to what could otherwise be a stressful process. From delivering, transporting, and picking up the storage containers, Badger Box is a dependable partner throughout the process.
After graduating from Elon University, Chris Welch, owner of Badger Box Mobile Storage, started working at a local bank. It was there that the groundwork for his future business was laid. Working as a lender, he came in contact with many business owners in the self-storage industry and knew this was a growing industry with lots of opportunity. It was also during this time that he earned the nickname “Honey Badger” due to another business opportunity he was pursuing – importing organic honey from Mexico. Later, when founding Badger Box Mobile Storage, the nickname would serve as his inspiration.
Chris started out renting a space that housed an original 84 containers. His operation quickly grew and soon it was time to expand. This is when he found a location only two doors down that was the perfect fit for his growing business. What started as an inquiry to rent the space soon turned into an opportunity to buy.
With his knowledge of SBA loans, Chris knew that Dennis Wagner would be a great partner to help him achieve funding for this commercial real estate purchase. Dennis was able to structure an SBA 7(a) loan that covered both the land and equipment, allowing Chris to add an additional 60 storage containers to his inventory.
